Early Music From Orkney

The recording is of ‘A Stone Age Band’ that includes clay pot drum, deer bone flute, scallop shells, frame drum, hoof shaker, stones and clay whistles.

The piece is from a CD called Out of the Stones, ‘Music inspired by the Archaeology and History of Orkney’. The CD was ‘devised by Bob Pegg and Bill Taylor’. Bob plays fifteen different melody and percussion instruments on the CD, and Bill plays four different string instruments. The music ranges over 5500 years, imagining or recreating what and how people created music long long ago.
