Sands Of Kuwait Set

This track is from the 2007 album Enjoy The Ride from The National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music, Sgoil Chiùil ne Gàidhealtachd, Plockton.

The tunes are by three of Scotland’s best contemporary traditional style composers and players. The Sands of Kuwait is by Gordon MacKenzie, The Aird Ranters by Fred Morrison, and Nelson Mandela’s Welcome to Glasgow by Blair Douglas.

The musicians, Roya & Amy & Scot, say, “We put this set together for the 2006 Showcase concert, but we got great mileage out of it for the rest of the year. ‘The Sands of Kuwait’ was written for Gordon MacKenzie’s colleagues in the Queen’s Own Highlanders who were killed in the first Gulf War."
